RECENT DEVELOPMENT

In 2000, Vitranschart own fleet was comprised of 14  vessels  with total deadweight of about 182,000 tons at the average age of 19 years. In 2001, 4 less effective vessels were sold making the deadweight decrease 19% and bought 1 bulk carrier handy size of 22,300 dwt in 2003 together with a new-building of 6,500 dwt delivered by 2004 raising up total deadweight of about 160,000 tons. In 2005, 2 more bulk carriers were bought and 2 small product tankers built which set  up the total deadweight of about 207,000 tons. In 2006, the total deadweight stood at 237,000 tons by one more new-building of 6,500 dwt released by the end of year. It is worth to note the result of our efforts in restructuring and rejuvenating the fleet, even though the Company's fleet is still relative old compared with the regional fleets. At present, we have 18 vessels at average age of 17 years.

Fleet productivity increased constantly through the years from 1,038 mil tons up to 1,998 mil tons, and by 15% tons kilometer for nation's fleets. The above efforts and a new active business policy towards the effective business of fleet operation brought us a bright turnover and produced annually growth from usd 14,6 mil. in 2000 to 43,2 mil. in 2006. Other business activities produced about 20% of our total turnover, significantly made USD 3,6 mil. in 2000 and 72,4 mil in 2006.

In other words, we have gradually succeeded in achieving the objective of our fleet rejuvenation and restructuring. Furthermore, the ISM Code application is considered as the first step in the ongoing process of  Total Quality Management strategy towards our utmost Product of Quality objective that gives rise to a successful competition in such a global, hyper-competitive and demanding market. Also ISPS Code application is our another efforts to fully meet the international requirements.

Since 2007, the company has been raising its fleet's total deadweight up to 298.353 dwt by purchasing 3 bulk carriers i.e: VTC-Dragon (22.662 dwt), VTC-Sun (23.581 dwt) and VTC-Planet (22.176 dwt).
